The Village
Located on the « Road of the Lakes » , Léon is a village where life is pleasant for its 1500 inhabitants. During the summer, a daily market animates the Central square, which is surrounded by traditional houses.
The different shops and services make the village very attractive. On the evening, people enjoy staying outside the bars and restaurants fand once a week, the evening market of regional products and craftwork always attracts a lot of people. Here, you can walk at a leisurely pace, and get hold of holidays souvenirs.
Hiking pathways and bicycle lanes will lead you to discover other houses with the typical architecture of the region, as well as old public wash houses. The lake
The village would not be so attractive without its lake, where you can practice water sports, where you can fish (with an access for disabled people), or bathe safely. From Easter holidays, the shadowy and accessible shores, and the vast parkings and campers areas, become a privileged place for family holidays.
Picnic and game areas, small craft to rent, a mini-golf and diverse distractions are waiting for you. Moreover, a hiking circuit will allow you to discover the fauna and flora of the lake.
The « Huchet » stream and the wildlife reserve
This stream runs from the lake to the ocean, in a luxuriant forest which has been nicknamed « the local Amazonia ». Maurice Martin discovered the stream in 1905, at a time when only a few fishermen used to frequent it.
The stream and the Natural reserve will offer you a great change of scene. From Easter to October, aboard boats steered by boatmen, you will discover the lushness of this patch of paradise, and serenely admire the dragonflies and the hibiscus flowers.
The guides of the Natural reserve can also help you to discover the local fauna and flora of this great site.
